OVERVIEW

It’s only natural that between all the different variations of the Rolex GMT-Master, the first iterations of the 1675 with both a pointed crown guard case & gilt chapter ring dial endure as some of the most coveted versions of all time. These were only made for almost 4 years from 1960 to 1963 as dials produced after were made with open hashmarks sans chapter rings and soon after the cases went from the pointed guards to a more rounded style guard which became the general design until now.

I can find many reasons to love every variation of the 1675, but if pressed I would ultimately choose one of these as my favorite. The deep glossy black of a gilt dial with the copper print is only enhanced by the print of the chapter ring (as well as the rings around the lume plots) and the sharp facets of the pointed crown guard are remniscent of facets on a gemstone, each one reflecting the light from its own angle. Design wise, it has the most going on of all the Rolex GMTs, but the result is a balanced, beautiful, unique, and eye-catching tool watch.

CONDITION NOTES

CASE: Beautiful pointed crown guard case with sharp, structured & even lugs. The case was polished in the past at some point, probably a while ago considering the overall light wear, but was done expertly. Correct large groove bezel ring with stunning pepsi insert that has faded to a teal blue and tomato red color combo.

DIAL & HANDS: Galvanic gilt dial has light but even patina on the gloss and the untouched and original full lume has aged to a sandy cream. Excellent flat gilt handset with small triangle with matching color and original lume. The hands have aged consistently with the dial.

MOVEMENT: Recently fully serviced by my in-house watchmaker and running well with brand new gaskets to maintain water resistance.
