1964 Rolex Submariner 5513 Gilt
Mirror mirror on the watch, whose taste in Rolex is top-notch?
$26,450
OVERVIEW
It’s hard to believe that a watch as beautiful as a gilt dial Rolex could be considered a tool watch, but in the early to mid 1960s that’s exactly what they were. While a matte dial 5513 is satisfying in it’s own right, the execution of a gilt dial Rolex, especially with copper print is unparalleled. Add to that a thick, sharp, & worn case and unique faded grey bezel insert and the end result is less tool watch and more holy grail.
CONDITION NOTES
CASE: Sharp and thick with even lugs and wide chamfers. Correct bezel and Long 5 bezel insert with the perfect fade.
DIAL: Gorgeous galvanic gilt glossy dial with no deterioration and original lume. Minor lume loss at 6:00 marker and barely noticeable loss on a couple others. Very normal for a 60 year old watch.
HANDS: Excellent original flat gilt handset with matching patina and original lume.
MOVEMENT: Clean condition and running at optimal amplitude and accuracy.
