OVERVIEW

The last of the original “straight lug” Speedmasters ever produced before Omega switched to the twisted lug cases on the now iconic Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. This particular reference is famous for being worn by astronaut Ed White while being the first American ever to walk in space, for which he was awarded the NASA Distiguished Service Medal in 1965. Unfortunately White would die two years later alongside astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom and Roger B. Chaffee in a fire during pre-launch testing for Apollo 1.

CONDITION NOTES

CASE: Lightly polished in the past while lugs still retain its overall original shape and chamfers. Original Dot over 90 bezel remains in great condition with no major dents to the edge, only minor chipping. Original flat foot crown was spared and has a new gasket in it for water resistance.

DIAL & HANDS: Excellent original dial with warm creamy patina on the tritium markers and excellent original hands.

MOVEMENT: Recently serviced in pristine condition and running great. All functions are in ideal working condition.
