OVERVIEW

While Rolex phased out galvanic gilt dials for their sports models in the mid 1960s, they continued to use them pretty sparingly for some Datejusts and Day-Dates til the early 1970s. This watch is one such example, and with a smooth bezel is one of the most understated vintage Datejusts one could find. That is, until the sun comes out then the most spectacular dark brown tropical dial from a lifetime of Southeast Asian sun rears it’s lovely head.

CONDITION NOTES

CASE: Sharp and appears unpolished. Smooth bezel is in excellent original shape with sharp edges.

DIAL & HANDS: Outstanding tropical gilt dial with full original lume plots in varying shades of patina. Hands are as fresh looking as the markers on the dial with light yellow patina in the tritium lume.

MOVEMENT: In great shape and running optimally.
