1972 Rolex GMT-Master 1675 MK2

I like fat fonts and I cannot lie.

OVERVIEW

While each one of the several matte dial 1675 dial iterations have their own personal charm and things that appeal to different collectors, the MK2 dial itself might be my favorite of all for its compact but fat font ROLEX logo and generally puffy lume markers. This particular example also sports a pretty mega fat font bezel insert that has perfectly evolved into one of the best color combinations and just so happens to match the patina of the dial very nicely. These fat font inserts on their own command a pretty hefty premium for collectors and it’s easy to see why.

CONDITION NOTES

CASE: Expertly and minimally detailed in the past, this case is as good as it gets short of being unpolished and mint. The lugs are perfectly even and correct, the chamfers are sharp and wide and the brushing on the top of the lugs looks as if they were barely touched.

DIAL: Perfect and untouched MK2 matte dial with original tritium lume with beautiful creamy yellow patina.

HANDS: Excellent handset with virtually no corrosion and matching and even original lume.

MOVEMENT: Smooth, keeping time accurately with high amplitude and no corrosion.
