It’s groovy to the max.

OVERVIEW

In the era of 1970s funky fashion and groovy vibes the Rolex Explorer II 1655 was first designed with an aesthetic representative of its time. Ironically, most people who would buy the 1655 for utility in mind shunned the trendy design finding the dial too busy and difficult to read. But for today’s watch enthusiast, the 1655 is considered on of the most unique and collectible models in the pantheon of iconic Rolex tool watches.

CONDITION NOTES

CASE: Sharp, thick and even lugs, and likely unpolished with the overtly wide chamfers characteristic of the mid 70s. No corrosion between the lugs or under the caseback so the watch passes water pressure tests. Original and perfect MK2 bezel.

DIAL & HANDS: Excellent MK2 dial with perfect original creamy lume. Original handset in perfect condition and matching and even original lume matching the dial. The orange 24 hr hand is beautiful and vibrant. Dial has a few very faint and barely noticeable spots that could probably be cleaned but in my opinion is not worth the trouble for an otherwise perfect example.

MOVEMENT: Smooth, keeping time accurately with high amplitude and no corrosion.
