ABOUT THIS WATCH
One of the longest running Rolex models still being produced today, the Datejust is probably the most imitated design in modern watch history. For good reason too, it’s beautiful no nonsense design and oyster case make it one of the most versatile and practical watches to wear no matter if you’re wearing a suit or dress, or jeans and a t-shirt. Honestly, it would look great with your bathrobe too.
This particular yellow gold Datejust is very unique with its rare light brown (collectors call this Havana) sunburst dial which also includes cream white print that disappears in certain lighting conditions. We call this feature a “ghost dial”. Paired with its gorgeous sword (or alpha) hands which Rolex stopped using around 1965, this is a watch configuration that you will unlikely see anyone else wearing. The lume color between dial & hands match perfectly and properly glow under UV light. While the case has most likely been polished in the past, it is expertly done and the model and serial engravings between the lugs are clear and easy to read which tells us this watch lived much of its life without an accompanying gold bracelet.
Note this Datejust has been fitted with an aftermarket domed crystal that lacks a cyclops because I like the way it looks better. The purchase will include the original crystal or if you prefer I can swap them back. Reluctantly.
