ABOUT THIS WATCH

Known to be the oldest watch and clockmaking house in history, Gallet is one of the most revered brands for vintage chronograph and military watch collectors all over the world having produced some of the most iconic and sought after pieces such as the MultiChron line of watches as well as their most famous, most rare & most valuable watch, the Truman Flight Officer. This flying officer (European versions were named Flying Officers) is a later generation of the Flight/Flying Officer line of watches and while not quite as rare as the Harry Truman 1st generation, it’s just as beautiful and finding one in mint condition such as this is almost unheard of.

Produced upon specific request for the US Air Forces, this innovative timepiece was first issued exclusively to American & British pilots during WWII and was highly useful for its ability to calculate changes in time zones. After the war, the Flight/Flying Officer became a popular watch for not only military pilots but also for commercial and private aviators around the world up until the 1970’s and is still considered one of the most respected military timepieces ever created.

As useful as these watches were, for whatever reason this particular watch was never really used at all and besides some small crazing of the original crystal has hardly any signs of wear. The dial is perfect, the lume is perfect and the clamshell case is also perfect. If you’re not a fan of perfect condition vintage watches (some people aren’t) then this watch isn’t for you. However, if you’re like me and love old watches that look like they’ve been left in a drawer their whole lives then this watch is it.

As a special bonus I’ve included a NOS (new old stock) vintage straight end rivet bracelet popularized in the 1950s and 60s to add to its overall allure. These are incredibly difficult to find on their own and the combination together is a match made in stainless steel heaven.
