ABOUT THIS WATCH

Started in 1922, the Voit brand first got their start producing tire retreading products and inflatable balls and has now become famous for making sporting goods for almost every recreational activity on Earth including SCUBA diving. Throughout the 50’s and 60’s their Swimaster SCUBA diving line was featured in several TV shows & movies and as its popularity continued to grow it was only natural they develop a proper dive watch along with it.

This Voit Diver, also called the Date-O-Matic, is a high quality skin diver built by the Swiss watchmaker Schild & Co. and was used by many amateur and professional divers for it’s reliability, water resistance and not to mention no-nonsense good looks. I get the feeling however that this particular watch was only owned for its good looks. Even something as well-made and water resistant as this watch can’t completely withstand the rigors of regular diving and this watch doesn’t even look like it was worn by a desk diver.

There are two versions of this watch and this one is the slightly older one of the two. Although I personally prefer the design of the second version by a slight edge, several people I know prefer this one for its large lume markers and simplistic, but beautiful design. There is no question this is an attractive watch, with its ideal size and proportions, gloss dial and perfectly patinated lume. The kicker though, is the very cool comic book style Voit logo, 3D in your face, ready to kick some ass like the superhero of a watch that it is.
